Let’s continue the story.

Lemur Press republishes out-of-print books that deserve another life
to help authors realize their work’s full potential and to preserve knowledge in written form.

About
Lemur Press

At Lemur Press, our mission is to preserve knowledge and access to it by keeping books available for readers who want them. By the same token, we hold profound esteem for the propagators of written knowledge—authors—and believe they should continue generating profits off of books that keep selling.

That is why we dedicate ourselves to finding noteworthy books of all genres that are out of print but deserve another life, and we bring them back.

Why a lemur?

Lemurs are a treasured and endangered species, in need of conscious, dedicated conservation, much like the cherished books we select to republish.

Our Approach

Author-centric

At Lemur Press, first and foremost we respect authors. We appreciate the passion, labor, and unique talent that authors pour into their work. We want to enable and empower authors to once again share their books with readers, and generate new royalty payments, with generous and transparent non-binding contracts.

Data-driven

Our approach to title selection is based on the data of readers’ demand. We analyze user search patterns to discover which out-of-print books are still coveted and sparking curiosity, and we seek to represent all genres, in order to reflect the full breadth of the human experience.

Guided by Principle

We will never wittingly publish books that promote or provide instruction for: violence (including hate speech) against particular groups or peoples, false science and data used to support prejudice or inequality, or misinformation and unverified claims regarding health and safety. We also reserve the right to refuse to engage with authors who are known to have abused, exploited, or caused harm to others, even if their work itself may seem innocuous.

Want to bring back a book?

While we conduct our own research to determine sought-after titles, we happily invite proposals from authors of
out-of-print books. We also work with fellow publishers who have a backlog of books waiting to be shared with the public.
